FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions AMHA Spring 2020 Season

Q-Why is the 10U age group doing half ice games?

A-10u Half Ice Games - This is being implemented in spring league to increase puck touches, puck support, ice awareness, body contact, angling, making plays in small areas, and tons more.  Offside and Icing can be taught anytime, development of the player cannot.  10u is the Golden Age of Skill Development and skill development we will see with taking away the big sheet of ice.  Here is a great article for you to read.  https://www.usahockey.com/news_article/show/1072320

Q-How are the 12U and 14U kids going to be grouped?

A- 12 skill sessions/green & grey - We will place the kids against like skill leveled players the very best we can, but I also see spring hockey to be a great time for the better players to work on their leadership skills with beginner players or lesser skilled players.  We looked at our numbers based on last season and the lack of players who attended the skills session made it an easy decision for us to just offer games at the 12u and 14u levels.
